It was right before the big one and the football player said,
\n\u201cExcuse me guys for just a sec while I go bow my head.\u201d
\nAnd in the quiet of that room
\nThe football player prayed,
\n\u201cOh God if nothing hear me now
\nI know that fate is made.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo help us Lord to win this game,
\nIt\u2019s the big one, man, you see,
\nIf we lose this game that\u2019s it for us,
\nPlease do this, Lord, for me.\u201d<\/p>\n
And as his body knelt in prayer,
\nHe looked up to the sky,
\n\u201cAnd while I\u2019m here, and have some time,
\nI need to ask you why?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThey say you never help teams wind,
\nJust do it once I pray,
\nWe will pay you back in kinder deeds
\nOr in another way,\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe reason why I can\u2019t help you win,\u201d
\nThe Lord just then replied,
\n\u201cIs as you\u2019re asking me to win,
\nSo is the other side.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m everybody\u2019s father and
\nI must not take one side,
\nSo games are played all on your own
\nOr they would all be tied.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBut that doesn\u2019t mean you shouldn\u2019t pray,\u201d
\nHe answered him with care,
\n\u201cYou can pray that players don\u2019t get hurt
\nAnd that all the calls are fair,\u201d<\/p>\n
And while the player heard this voice,
\nHe bowed his head in prayer,
\n\u201cI pray for fairness,\u201d said the boy
\n\u201cAnd for your tender care.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou shall be blessed,\u201d the Lord replied,
\n\u201cYour team and you the same,
\nAnd now will you excuse me boy,
\nI cannot miss this game.\u201d<\/p>\n
