Large photos are very prominent on a scrapbook page and they require very little embellishing. For simple page accents, enlarge a scenic shot and cut out a section. Or create a boarder b cutting out a scenic background element. Large photographs of people you want to highlight equal dramatic pages.

Plan your picture to capture more than just he usual spur-of-the-moment shots. Try these simple tips that will help you create shots that are perfect for making it big.

Zoom in on your subject. Just because you plan to enlarge the photo, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get close to begin with. Fill the frame before you take the picture.

Angles and line: Tilt your camera to capture a long vertical shot. Try a child coming down the slide, a ladder or stairway. Pull your camera back to get a horizontal line of tall trees or a scenic road.

Frame your shots but be sure you don’t have any distracting backgrounds in your frame. These distractions are noticeable in small photos, but even more so in an enlarged photo.

Experiment, plan on taking two or three shots to capture the right one. When you add these to your pages be creative in your layouts. Use a solid photo or cut them into strips and leave a small gap between each one as you lay them on your page. Use close up photos of children by a tree then another one of just the tree to put on the same page. Mix and match and be creative. Don’t be afraid to try something new, you may just create your favorite page.

Scrapbooking by Close To My Heart Consultant Marcy Larsen.
