Hello! Courtney<\/a> here today and I am sharing a summer themed card created with the I Love Sunshine Collection<\/a> and the coordinating Designer Dies and 4×6 Stamp Set<\/a>. Below is a tutorial that explains how I added a bit of interest to each set of die cuts using some basic craft supplies.<\/p>\n

First, I created a background for the summer themed die cut scene. I trimmed the Cream Solid Paper<\/a> to 3 3\/4\u201d x 5\u201d and adhered a strip of patterned paper to the bottom. The curved scallop die cut was cut with a die in the Summer Days Die Set<\/a> – the scallop is meant to be part of a beach umbrella. Then I stamped the sentiment to finish up the background.<\/p>\n

Next up is all of the die cuts. I wanted to add a unique element to each set of die cuts to add a bit of interest to the card. The sand pail is embossed with the Mini Triangles Embossing Folder<\/a> and also has a center full of confetti, the pinwheel has a button center, and the flip flops have a touch of glitter.<\/p>\n

The pail die cuts were cut from Red Solid Paper<\/a>, Sunbeams Patterned Paper<\/a>, and a thin piece of plastic. To create the opening for the confetti I die cut a circle from the center of the red pail using a circle die that is part of the Spring Flowers Die Set<\/a>. Lastly, the handle was cut from the b-side of the 3×4 Journaling Cards Patterned Paper<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now to emboss the red pail – I placed it in the folder and ran it through my manual die cut machine. Afterwards I attached the handle with a bit of liquid adhesive. To create the pocket of confetti I placed a big pile of yellow confetti stars right in the yellow circle of the pail die cut. Then with a tape runner I secured the plastic pail die cut right on top of the confetti – place the adhesive along the edges of the plastic being sure to avoid the center. Since I used a large pile confetti stars there isn\u2019t much room for them to move around. If you want more of a shaker element just use less confetti. Last step is to adhere the red pail atop the confetti filled pail.<\/p>\n

To create the pinwheel I die cut the pieces from Sandy Toes Patterned Paper<\/a> and Splish Splash Patterned Paper<\/a>. Then I layered the two die cuts and attached a small button to the center. The mini dowel will be put in place when attaching the die cuts to the background.<\/p>\n

Last up are the flip flops die cuts. I cut the flip flops pieces from the b-side of the Splish Splash Patterned Paper<\/a> and from white cardstock. I attached the tiny white die cuts with liquid adhesive and then added a bit of glitter with a white glitter pen.<\/p>\n

Now to assemble the summertime scene. First, I tucked the pail and flip flops behind the curved scallop die cut. Then I put the mini dowel in place and attached the sand die cut on top of it using a couple of glue dots. Lastly, the pinwheel was attached with foam adhesive.<\/p>\n
