“You Don’t have To Be Great”, by Stephanie Buice<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n

Hi everyone! Stephanie here today sharing my very first soccer layout ever! I honestly hadn\u2019t given much thought to being a soccer mom (or any kind of sports mom for that matter), but not because we\u2019re not a \u201csports family\u201d but more because in my mind these days were so far away. Although it felt like these days would never come, I\u2019m so glad they\u2019re here because every time little man comes even close to touching that ball I feel such a huge amount of pride (Insert all the mom tears here – haha). Anyways I\u2019m sure I\u2019m not alone in feeling that way so I just wanted to make sure I took the time to document these moments from his first few games.<\/p>\n

At the start of every game, all the kids run down in a line through the people there to see them play. It\u2019s so cute to see their faces as their names are called, some kids get all into it while a few of the younger ones can\u2019t quite figure it out (It\u2019s so funny!) I was so excited to catch these pictures of Brady running down the line giving high fives to the ones he knew.<\/p>\n

For this layout, I really wanted to stick to a \u201cboyish\u201d color combo. I love the grey and how it mixes with the other colors, it almost mutes them down a little and lets the black and white stand out. For my journaling I chose to use some of the Tiny Text letters in black, I like how it turned out so I\u2019ll probably be using that technique more in the future.<\/p>\n

\"StephBuice_YouDon'tHaveToBeGreatDetail3\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Since I didn\u2019t have any soccer themed paper, I decided to go ahead and try out the \u201cTaxi\u201d paper from the new \u201cLet\u2019s Go\u201d Collection and it worked perfectly! I cut out a bunch of half inch strip from coordinating papers and basket weaved them in a crisscross pattern. To give them a more finished look, I ran my sewing machine over them once they were all secured in place.<\/p>\n

\"StephBuice_YouDon'tHaveToBeGreatDetail5\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I really wanted a good sports quote for my title so I chose to go with this one by Zig Zagler (Yes I see that I spelled that wrong, but it\u2019s all fixed now): “You don\u2019t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great\u201d. I thought that was a pretty good quote that sends a great message, you always have to start somewhere. Since I needed my quote to spread down the length of my page I decided to mix it up by using some chipboard, Tiny Text letters and some of the alphas from the Genesis Kit. I left a little space in the center to add in a few stars that matched.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite parts about this page are the white chipboard \u201cyou\u2019s\u201d, I think that they look so clean and crisp mixed in with the other colored letters. I added in two black Enamel Doodad photo corners, one at the top and one at the bottom of my title column. The page could have been just fine without them, but I felt like it needed just a little something extra.<\/p>\n
