Hi! It’s Ashley with a new layout, using the Through the Year collection! This is such fun collection, because it gives you a little bit of all the seasons in one pack. You could easily use this collection, to create a variety of cards, pocket scrapbook pages, or a layout, like I’m sharing today!
I used a mix of the patterned papers and stickers on my layout, and I wanted to create an interactive element on my page, using the coordinating Designer Dies. The File Tab Die Set caught my eye, and I decided to create a mini file folder to add to my page. Here’s a quick tutorial showing how I made the file folder with the Die Set.
1. Start by choosing one of the four file tab dies from the Die Set, and placing it on the November patterned paper. Run your paper and die through your die cutting machine.
2. Once your die is cut, it will look like this. Use your paper trimmer to cut the sides of the paper.
3. Now you can decide where you want to fold your file folder. Then just use a scoreboard or your paper trimmer to score a line and then fold in half.
4. Your finished folder will look like this.
Once your file folder is complete, you can attach it to your layout, and use some of the stickers from the Element Stickers Sheet to decorate it. Now you’ve got a cute folder, for storing your child’s favorite drawings or extra school photos. You can keep your folder closed, by adding a paper clip, which works in perfectly for a school themed layout!
