Speed School Grad Layout

When I decided to scrap my sister’s college graduation, I was drawn to the sheet of “Bookshelf” paper in Little Yellow Bicycle’s “Making the Grade” line. I thought the row of books were a good representation of her years of hard work in achieving her goal. However, I thought the row of printed alphabets was a bit too juvenile for my college grad theme. Quick fix…top the row of alphas with a strip of another patterned paper to mature the whole feel of my page. To compliment the row of patterns at the bottom, I also chose to add a couple of coordinating strips at the top of my page.

Don’t let one element on an item deter you from using it. Be creative!

Instructions:

  1. Start with sheet of LYB – Making the Grade – Bookshelf/Blue Solid Cardstock for your base.
  2. Add 1/2″ strip of LYB – Making the Grade – Alpha Block/Red Stripe Cardstock (red stripe) along top edge.
  3. Cut “Learning is a treasure” quote strip from LYB – Making the Grade – School Bands/Brown Stripe Cardstock and adhere below red stripe strip.
  4. Cut 1-1/2″ strip of LYB – Making the Grade – Multi Fun Dot/Green Stripe Cardstock and adhere over top of blue strip under books.
  5. Crop four photos down, mat on white cardstock and adhere as shown. (I topped one of my photos with a Poloroid diecut.)
  6. Accent two photos with cork stars from LYB – Making the Grade – Cork Word and Shape Stickers.
  7. Add journaling card from LYB – Making the Grade – Tear-Out Ticket and Journaling Card Book to upper right corner. Accent with brad.
  8. Complete layout by adding title in lower right corner using mix of cork “school” letters from LYB – Making the Grade – Cork Word and Shape Stickers and two different chipboard alphabets.
