We thought it would be fun to bring back our sketch feature here and there, as sketches are still such a widely popular tool in scrapbooking. We shared the sketch with two of our Creative Team designers, to see how they would put it to use. Feel free to give this sketch a try and as always, we’d love to see what you do with it!
“Hello Softball Season”, by Becki Adams.
Hey friends, Becki here to share a layout I created based on the sketch. When I saw the sketch I loved it and knew that I wanted to follow it pretty closely. I loved that there was a clear focal photo and a bold title. I wanted to create something a little more than scallops along either side of the center column so I grabbed by fringe scissors and some white tissue paper to add some texture under the purple circles. It worked perfectly!
To add some additional texture to these borders I added black hand stitching and a few enamels. These borders make a huge impact on the layout but don’t take away from the focal photo in the center of the columns.
I knew I wanted the title “hello softball season” with the Ciao Chip script “hello” At first I was going to paint it black but then decided that I needed another purple element on the page. I grabbed some sparkle water color crayons, some water, and a paint brush. It turned out perfect! I love the slight shimmer that the water color crayons added to the chipboard.
The final addition to the page was the strips of journaling I added at the bottom of the page. The sketch didn’t specify where the journaling should go so I added it below the title. By printing my journaling on purple patterned paper I was able to add additional color to the bottom of the layout.
Thanks to this awesome sketch I have an adorable layout to document my daughter’s first softball game of the 2016 season. What memory will you document with this sketch?

“Baby Girl” digital layout, by Krista Lund.
I had a lot of fun working with this sketch! I didn’t alter it but I did add some embellishments. I couldn’t help myself – The Sweet Baby Girl collection has the cutest elements!!
I opened a new file in Photoshop and dragged all the elements from the Embellishments Folder onto my blank paper. I rearranged them to create my title. I then selected all the layers and dragged them onto my template and background papers.
I layered 3 more elements including a tag to write the date on. I added the initial “K” and a sweet flower and button.
To create the scalloped edge I used a large brush in Photoshop and spaced it at 99%. I clipped a piece of patterned paper to it. I duplicated the layers and dragged it to the other side.
