Writing in Recess Layout

writing in recess layout by Amy Wheeler

I only had one (bad) photo from this event, but there was a story to tell, so I pulled out the ruled die-cut paper and got the story down on paper. I added a chipboard accent to one corner of the photo to “disguise” an ugly corner.

Supplies:

Directions:

  1. Start with sheet of WRMK – Show & Tell – Field Trip Cardstock for your base. I used the backside – yellow dot.
  2. Cut WRMK – Show & Tell – Report Card Die Cut in half and adhere left half to right hand edge of base paper.
  3. Cut “Recess” strip and “apple” strip from WRMK – Show & Tell – Story Time Cardstock and adhere across page.
  4. Mat photo with orange backside of WRMK – Show & Tell – Story Time Cardstock and adhere next to “recess/apple” portion of page.
  5. Add narrow strip of backside (blue houndstooth print) of WRMK – Show & Tell – Study Hall Cardstock just above “recess” to line up with top of photo mat.
  6. Add three brads from WRMK – Show & Tell – Glitter Brads just above photo.
  7. Add “grade” chipboard accent from WRMK – Show & Tell – Layered Chipboard Tags in lower right corner of layout.
  8. Add grade number to chipboard tag using Thickers – Vinyl Sprinkles – Orange.
  9. Finish title using mix of new alphas.
  10. Add journaling to ruled lines on diecut paper.

Optional instructions:

  1. If photo has space to allow for an accent, add apple chipboard accent from WRMK – Show & Tell – Layered Chipboard Tags.
  2. Using EK Success – Binding Edge Edger Punch, punch strips of coordinating paper from “Show & Tell” line and add to upper left hand corner of layout.
  3. If you like to work with details, cut an extra apple out of the patterned paper and adhere with pop dots over an apple on the row under “recess” on your page.

Happy Scrappin’!
